Arita Porcelain Museum

We mainly collect and display ceramics of Arita. Material of Arita porcelain at the time when it was established can be viewed as well as Ko-Imari, Kakiemon and Iro-Nabeshima porcelain. In the interior of the museum, the "Carved Akae (red enamel decoration) Guardian Dog", which is a designated Important Cultural Property of Saga Prefecture and the "Sometsuke (underglaze blue) Arita Sarayama Artisan`s Illustrated Map" are worth to see. This art museum received its first registration under the museum law in Saga in 1954. The house is made of stones and has been used as a storehouse for ceramics during the Meiji era.
Admission fees:
 100 yen for adults, university and high school students 50 yen, primary and secondary students 30 yen

  • Platter which described a craftsman who worked in Sarayama, Arita of the dyed pattern Sarayama, Arita enumeration of artisans' names illustrated map platter <br /> (Arita Pottery Museum possession) <br /> Edo era vividly every quarrying in Izumiyama and crush, potter's wheel and keida chinado production process in mortar for hulling. Diameter 59.4cm, 10cm in height, hill 30.2cm. We are thought to be in the latter half of the Edo era in the production generation. Prefecture important cultural property (history document).

    Platter which described a craftsman who worked in Sarayama, Arita of the Edo era vividly every quarrying in Izumiyama and crush, potter's wheel and keida chinado production process in mortar for hulling. Diameter 59.4cm, 10cm in height, hill 30.2cm. We are thought to be in the latter half of the Edo era in the production generation. Prefecture important cultural property (history document).

  • We were dedicated to Izumiyama, Arita, Benzai shrine dedicated to the heavenly gods before pair of stone guardian dogs <br /> (Arita Pottery Museum possession) <br /> of Sue carving Japanese Restaruant "Akae", and it was pair in those days, but only on earth exists now. Figure holds ornamental scented ball in check with the left foot and, at image high 39cm, settles down and we open mouth and are doing Buddha's preaching. We are estimated to be production of the Enpo era year (1573-1681). Prefecture important cultural property (industrial art object).
